Make the most of summer flowering bulbs. These are a great choice for garden containers and can be used to create wonderful displays all summer long.
You can use summer flowering bulbs to add more colour and drama to existing containers by planting them in among other plants and flowers, or you can create brand new displays using one or more types of bulbs. For a striking effect consider planting a whole container with just one variety of bulb, or use two or three contrasting bulbs for a great display.

Step 1 Always ensure that the container you choose has good drainage. Improve the drainage by adding a layer of crocks (broken terracotta flower ptos) to the base of the planter. Add a layer of fresh West+ Advanced Compost for all plants. This is great for container plants because it really holds the moisture in the compost and contains a generous amount of fertiliser to feed the plants for several weeks. |

Step 3 Cover over with a fresh layer of compost and fill the container until there is about 2cm (1inch) just below the rim, this makes it easier to water. Keep the container well watered, but not sodden and when the plants start to establish keep them well fed with an appropriate Feed-all product of your choice. |
