Courgettes

Courgettes are actually compact marrow grown for their immature fruits. The more fruit you cut the more that will develop. They are so easy to grow and need little maintainance.

Prepare your soil during the autumn by digging in organic Farmyard Manure. Sow seeds in May or June directly into the ground and dig in Growmore Fertiliser to get them off to a great start.

As courgettes grow into large plants you need to leave at least 30 inches between plants. 2 or 3 plants will be sufficient for most familys needs.

Courgettes need lots of water to provide tasty fruits and the soil should not be allowed to dry out.

Once the fruits start to swell feed every couple of weeks with Nutri Tomato Feed. For the best flavour harvest when the fruits are approximately 4 inches long. For unusual looking crops try Courgette Latino which has a great flavour and ribbed fruit.
