Location

When you are choosing where in your garden to grow your fruit and vegetables it is a good idea to keep the following points in mind:

  • most crops like lots of sunshine, south facing is ideal
  • the site should be sheltered from the wind
  • avoid overhanging tree branches and shade cast by buildings or hedges
  • good access to water can save time if you need to water your crops frequently (try connecting a waterbutt)

Design

Depending on the space available in your garden you can then choose to grow your fruit and vegetables in:

  • raised beds
  • traditional vegetable plots
  • containers, planters or hanging baskets
