How to Grow Sweet Peas 22/01/2009
Sweet Peas are easy to grow from seed and provide a succession beautifully scented flowers throughout the summer.

Step 1.
For best results sow in a cool greenhouse. Fill small flowerpots with Westland John Innes Seed Sowing Compost with Sure Start.

Step 2.
Do not soak or chit the seeds before sowing. Simply make several evenly spaced holes in the compost using a dibber about 1-2cm deep and sow a single seed into each hole.

Step 3.
Water well and keep the pots of seedlings at a constant temperature of 10-15oc. Keep the compost moist but not overwet.

Step 4.
When the seedlings have formed their first true pair of leaves, pinch out the growing tip to encourage bushier planrs. Over winter autumn-sown seedlings in a cloche or cold frame for the winter. Plant out established seedlingd in March and April. Provide supports such as canes, a wigwarm or sweet pea netting
