Go Wild with Peckish returns to garden centres for 2016

FAMILIES are being encouraged to unplug from their digital devices this October half term in support of wild birds.

The leading bird food brand is calling on garden centres to host the Go Wild With Peckish campaign, which encourages young people to unplug from their digital devices for a day and take part in FREE fun bird related activities together with parents, grandparents and other family members. Research shows that for the first time, the average young adult now spends more time online than watching TV with many doing so in the isolation of their own rooms, rather than as a family unit*.

The events at garden centres will inspire children to reconnect their passion with nature, to ensure the survival of our feathered friends this winter.

Activities will include:

  • Fun activity sessions – Make your own bird feeder or energy balls for birds to feast on
  • National drawing competition – Create your own bird character to win a family day out, or a Peckish hamper
  • In-store ‘bird spotting’ – Spot all the ‘birds’ in the garden centre to receive a free goodie bag with vouchers and a FREE sample of Peckish bird food

Families can locate their closest participating garden centre by clicking on the Go Wild With Peckish website at www.peckishbirdfood.com/gowild. The website will also be packed with downloadable activities to help families connect to nature at home during the half-term and bring more birds into their garden.

Rachael Dickinson, Senior Brand Manager for Peckish said: “Whether it’s getting to know the birds in your garden or ditching your digital device for a drawing pad, we’re encouraging families to turn off their screens for the day and spend time together enjoying and learning about nature. Technology really helps us fit a lot into our lives, but it’s also important to make time to switch off.

“The British wild bird population is in decline, so Go Wild With Peckish aims to be fun filled whilst also encouraging future generations to do their best to help our wild birds thrive.”

Because Peckish uses the highest quality ingredients in its bird food products, the birds in your garden will be fitter, healthier and perform at their peak. So sit back, watch the show and enjoy a performance that lasts a lifetime!”
