Pour mushroom compost from the clear bag into the cardboard growing tray and spread evenly. Wear gloves when handling compost. Use a mist sprayer to keep surface of compost moist. Rest the lid on top of the growing tray. Keep in a WARM place (approx 20-25°C) and use a mist sprayer every day, to keep surface of the compost moist but no too wet.

After 10 days open the white bag of casing peat, add a little water and kneed the bag of peat. Wear gloves when handling casing peat. The peat should now be moist but not soggy. Remove lid from growing tray and empty peat over compost in an even layer.

Step 1 step image

After adding the peat to the compost, replace the lid and put the box in a COOL place (approx 16-20°C) and allow the mushrooms to develop. Check the box every two days and keep the contents moist by lightly spraying the surface evenly.

Step 1 step image

Continue to check the box every other day, maintain moisture, close lid and place the box back ensuring cool temperature is maintained (approx 16-20°C). As a result a white mould (Mycelium) will start to appear, this is part of the mushroom growing process, at this point it is crucial you DO NOT allow the mushroom kit to dry out.

Step 1 step image

As a result of maintaining the conditions, tiny white pin heads will appear, these are your mushrooms. Continue lightly spraying every other day but do not spray the pin heads directly as they will cease to grow and turn brown. Return lid and place back in a cool area. Once they are about 3cm in diameter they are ready to harvest.

You can repeat this process from the same kit to harvest and enjoy more mushrooms a further 2-4 times. Please note that after 2-4 times the Mycelium may have been exhausted and you will require a new kit to grow further mushrooms.
