Nasturtiums

Nasturtiums are great for ground cover, used as climbers or for companion planting (a tradtional method of planting two varieties together to deter pests) such as ’Natural Companions Cabbage and Nasturtium’ which planted together deter cabbage white butterflies.

Sow Nasturtium seeds in March or April in the greenhouse or on a kitchen windowsill in Surestart Seed & Cutting Compost or April to June directly where they are to grow.

Harden off over a couple of weeks before planting out. Incorporate organic matter such as organic Farmyard Manure or Soil Conditioner first to improve soil structure and boost nutrient levels.

Feed throughout the season with Nutri All Purpose Plant Food.

For a beautfiul shade of orange try ‘Nasturtium Burning Embers.’
