How to Grow Delphiniums

Traditional cottage garden plants, Delphiniums bear tall spikes of large blue, pink, white or purple flowers in early summer and thrive in well-drained soil in a sunny and sheltered spot.

For a beautiful colour mix try ‘Pacific Giants’.

When to Sow

Seeds should be sown undercover between February and July.

How to Sow

Sow into tray of Gro-Sure Seed & Cutting Compost and keep at around 10-15c (50-60f).

Pot on small plants once established and gradually acclimatise to outside conditions over 2-3 weeks.

Plant out from April onward. Early sowings will flower the same year whereas sowings made later will flower for the first time the following summer.

Flowering Period

Flowering occurs in early summer between May and July.
