Seeds to sow in January

It’s a great time to plant vegetable seeds including summer brassicas such as cabbage and cauliflower onions and peppers

It’s also a perfect time to start some hardy annual bedding plants such as Sweet Peas, Antirrhinums, Stocks, or perennials such as Begonias or Delphinium. However, it can take a couple of years to reach flowering size, though it’s well worth their slow start in the long run.

  • Cabbage
  • Cauliflower
  • Leaks
  • Lettuce
  • Onions
  • Peppers.
  • Herbs e.g Basil.
  • Antirrrhinum
  • Begonia
  •  Delphinium
  • Foxglove
  • Iceland Poppies.
  • Pelargonium (Geraniums)
  • Sweet Peas
  • Stocks

 

What you will need

  • Seed trays, module trays or pots with drainage holes.
  • Seed sowing compost
  • Seeds
  • Hand Trowel
  • Cling film/ glass or a heated propagator with lid
