Sowing Indoors
- Sow seeds individually on their edges in small pots of moist seed compost 1cm (1/2in) deep. We recommend using either Gro-Sure Seed and Cutting Compost or Westland John Innes Seed Sowing Compost
- Place in the warmth 20-25°C (70-75°F) and cover pots with cling film until seeds emerge
- Grow on under cool, light conditions, but not in direct sunlight
Transplanting
- When first flowers have opened transfer to growing bags, large pots or the greenhouse border
- Allow 60cm (24in) between plants
Hardening off / Planting out
- Gradually accustom young plants to conditions outside for one week before planting out to their cropping positions when danger of frost has passed
Growing Tips
- Regular picking promotes growth
- Water well and feed regularly with an organic fertiliser to encourage flowers and fruits
- Leave all flowers on the plants to ensure good pollination and fruiting
