How to grow herbs

There is nothing better than growing your own herbs that you can use in your cooking. By growing them yourself, they will be as fresh as they possibly can be adding fresh flavour of your cooking. Herbs are extremely easy to grow from seed, especially in pots. Read our simple steps to creating your herb garden.

Step 1

Firstly, to grow your own herb garden you need a large pot. The pot needs to have a drainage hole so the plants don’t become water-logged. To make the drainage even better you can put some cracked pots into the bottom of the pot.

Step 2

Fill the pot with compost. We advise Westland Multi-purpose compost with John Innes. This is a good compost to use as it contains nutrients to feed your plants for up to 5 weeks. It also contain West+ technology.

Step 3

Select which varieties of herb you are going to grow. Some of the most popular include mint, parsley, thyme, sage, rosemary, basil and chives.

Step 4

Place the herbs in the pot and fill the remaining of the pot with compost ensuring that the root of the plants are covered.

Step 5

Ensure you water the plants well on a regular basis, and you should have a great crop of herbs which can be picked all season long.
