Job Title – Commercial Accountant

Location – Alconbury Hill (2 days) / Remote (3 days per week)

Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance, you will provide timely commercial insight to support and challenge all financial matters to optimise the financial performance of Westland’s products and categories. In this new role you will work closely with people across all group divisions within Sales, Marketing, Finance, IT and Supply Chain and it is therefore critical for the success of this role that you possess an ability to cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders.

Essential Skills

The successful candidate will have:

  • Several years commercial accountancy experience, preferably in a brand driven FMCG environment
  • Must be a highly driven individual, able to adapt to changing demands. Thrives in a fast paced and varied working environment
  • Intermediate or Advanced Excel skills
  • Commercially minded, with analytical ability to translate numbers into operational reality
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to negotiate and influence internally and manage difficult conversations

Qualifications

  • Professional Accountancy Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), can be part qualified and support for remaining exams provided.
  • Degree level educated.
  • Current Driving Licence and the availability and willingness to travel to other Westland sites and sales meetings.

Westland Horticulture – Pet Division

Territory Area Sales Manager

North-East of England / Field Sales role

We have a new job opportunity for an experienced ‘Territory Area Sales Manager’ to join our North East sales team covering Yorkshire/Middlesbrough and Newcastle. The role is responsible for building and developing customer relationships in the Pet Channel, by driving in-store distribution through existing and new business.

Note: Previous sales experience within pet care, pet food or pet accessories is essential.

Main Duties:

  • To strengthen our existing customer relationships with around 50 retailers, varying from Country Stores, Feed Warehouse’s and Pet Shops and identify key levers for sustainable growth opportunities
  • Increasing distribution of our brands through new customers is a key target for this area. Developing prospecting strategies to identify our biggest opportunities will be key.
  • Develop promotional strategies specific to the retailer network to ensure we are maximising our return on investment and driving incremental growth
  • Achieve specific annual sales targets and also NPD targets as requested
  • To produce weekly call reports for the independent channel manager as requested.
  • Develop strong relationships with store managers of a National Wholesaler in the territory and identify key areas of opportunity.
  • Drive in-store excellence through POS and merchandising to ensure our products have maximum presence in store.
  • Deliver in store training to customers on our product ranges and brands to drive mutual retailer growth.

We are looking to recruit a highly creative, entrepreneurial manager, for one of the UK’s leading largest branded consumer horticultural businesses.  Building brands is our core identity, adding value for our end customer and consumer, maximising our revenue, improving brand loyalty, and developing strategic Marketing and product plans is at the heart of the role.  You will build strong relationships with our core customers, manage a complex range of SKUs and bring relevant new products to market in record time.

 Main Duties:

  • To drive our Brands, championing the product portfolio within the business and with our customers and consumers.
  • Develop Strategic Marketing plans across the brand portfolio.
  • Collaborate with the Technical, Design and Commercial teams to identify areas of new product opportunity, quantifying the commercial benefits, developing product concepts, and gauging trade and consumer response that add commercial value to the business, ensuring Brand Proposition uniqueness.
  • Manage those products through the business to bring them to market on time and profitably.
  • Manage and deliver all consumer communication across the brands.

The Person

Catalogue/Direct Mail Manager

We have a new position for an experienced ‘Catalogue/Direct Mail Manager’ to join our fast-paced D2C retail marketing team within Marshalls Garden. This key role will see you take full project management responsibility of our printed catalogues/brochures and ownership of the direct mail programs across all channels. You will help build Marshalls Gardens continued trusted brand and drive efficient and effective response through creative product presentation, a compelling proposition coupled with market leading content – all considered within a strong commercial framework.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage the analysis, planning, timing and prioritisation of all print related marketing activity
  • To be the key contact for all upcoming catalogues/brochures/leaflets with responsibility for smooth scheduling, production, and release in the UK
  • Responsible for the direct mail campaign strategy and execution built behind a strong commercial rationale with targeted measurement of success metrics such as ROI, conversion, and revenue
  • Manage, evolve, and drive the creative content within the direct mail activity whilst ensuring alignment and consistency with the brand guidelines and across the website, social media, and email channels
  • Work closely with the design agency, print, and mailing houses to ensure deadlines and budgets are met for artwork and content

 

Person Specification

  • Comfortable working in a small friendly team and being the expert within the subject
  • Previous experience within publishing, media or print industry – highly desirable
  • Previous experience with sales driving, direct response literature and campaigns – B2C/Retail Marketing
  • Confident when liaising with design agencies, print and mailing houses
  • Excellent project and time management skills
