Senior Category Manager – Unwins Seeds
We have an exciting new opportunity for a passionate ‘Senior Category Manager’ to champion one of the UK’s most loved gardening brands – Unwins Seeds. With a wide range of beautiful flowers to delicious herbs, vegetables & salads, Unwins has been producing quality seeds since 1903.
Reporting to the Seed & Hardware Divisional Director, the purpose of this role is to develop and implement a 2-year marketing plan that will deliver substantial growth. With a love for brands, the successful marketer will work in a fun, friendly and fast paced environment ensuring that we continue to deliver award-winning gardening products to our suppliers and customers.
Senior Category Manager / Brand Marketing – Main Duties:–
- Through a profound understanding of the market, its customers and consumers, develop a rolling 24-month business plan that delivers company goals, and delivers a long term sustainable, differentiated, competitive advantage.
- Recommend and implement plans for developing the portfolio in order to meet consumer and customer needs.
- Develop, Implement, and manage the Marketing strategy to ensure the range obtains maximum consumer exposure.
- Unwins Brand management involves the sale and marketing of a living product. Therefore, the portfolio of seeds changes and evolves. Working with the technical team, and using insight and data, manage the annual selection process to ensure the very best breeding is utilised.
- Working with PR and Digital teams and external agencies propose brand communication activity that delivers the brand goals.
- Manage the portfolio of sku’s for profit growth, and to minimise complexity and cost.
- Working with the Sales team develop presentations to bring the brand plan to life.
- Working with wider team, manage in-store solutions & executions.
- Working with the Technical team, and external partners, develop, propose and execute new product development
- Monitor, review and report on all marketing activity and results.
- Deliver marketing activity within agreed budget.
Experience
- Experience in FMCG brand management ideally in a complex sku environment.
- Experienced in briefing & managing external marketing agencies
- Highly organised, with superb attention to detail
- Relentless, in delivering approved projects on-time.
- Diplomatic, when managing priorities through shared resource
- Considered when dealing with Senior Team
- Highly flexible, we retain a strong entrepreneurial spirit, priorities will change.
- Demonstrate great communication skills.
- Show a zeal and a passion for your category and our industry.
- Build relationships that you can draw on when working under pressure.
- Must be honest and show integrity.
- Must be self-confident and a self-starter.
- Team player, planning and decision making.
- Familiar with new product development (timelines, critical paths).
