Lawn Academy graduates prove they’re a cut above the rest!

The first day of the Westland Lawn Academy has been voted a huge success by graduates, who are now a cut above the rest when it comes to advice and making recommendations.

A total of 50 garden centre staff attended the Academy which was held in Peterborough. It was the first in a series held throughout January and February across the UK and Ireland.

Tania Simpson, Operations Manager for Trowell Garden Centre who attended the Academy, said: “As always, Westland have delivered a professional and comprehensive training event. Well worth the journey!”

In a lively and interactive session, garden centre staff were introduced to lawn gardener types with different attitudes to lawns in a fun and interactive way. They learnt everything there is to know about lawns, including differences in seed, how to create and maintain lawns and how best to advise customers. They also spent time looking at real-life lawns in order to identify exactly what good and poor lawns looks like.

Daniela Constantine, Brand Manager for Lawns at Westland Horticulture, said: “We now have our very first Lawn Academy graduates who are ready to head back into store and reinvigorate their lawn category!”

“We believe garden centre staff are the key in growing lawn care participation. From guidance, product recommendation and problem solving, the right advice can really affect your turnover at the point of sale.”

Further sessions will be now be held at Taunton, Preston, Perth and Dublin throughout January and February.
