Barbecue Sauce

Get juicy tender steaks, cutlets and ribs by marinating with this excellent home-made barbecue sauce.

Just add sunshine, hot coals and a pint of lager!

Ingredients

  • 120ml olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon tomato puree
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 2 cloves of garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce

Step 1

Combine the above ingredients together in a jug and whisk well.
Place the meat in a freezer bag and add the sauce. Seal the bag.

Step 2

Massage the bag to ensure the contents are well coated.
Keep in the fridge overnight or for a minimum of 4 hours.

Step 3

Bring to room temperature before placing on the barbecue.  If you have any excess sauce, brush this over the top of the meat while it is cooking.
