Homemade Cherry Cocktail

Mix up one of these beauties in the kitchen, then sit back and relax in the garden. Go on, you’ve earned it!!

Serves 1 thirsty gardener

Ingredients

  • 250ml water
  • 170g granulated sugar
  • 200g fresh cherries (pitted)
  • 60ml good quality vodka
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Soda water
  • Plenty of ice cubes

Step One

Heat water, sugar and cherries (leave a couple for a garnish) together in a small saucepan until the sugar has dissolved. Take off the heat, crush the cherries with a potato masher and leave to cool. You have now made cherry syrup!

Step Two

Take a cocktail maker or a jam jar, fill with ice, the cherry syrup, vodka and lemon juice and shake well. Tip into a glass and top up with soda water. Place the leftover cherries as a garnish. Cheers!
