Your Garden Needs you this Autumn!

Yes, it’s getting cold, wet and damp and next spring is at least 6 months away, but don’t despair….. autumn is a great time of year for gardeners!

Let us explain why:

1. It’s the best time of year to over-seed or sow a new lawn

Get your lawn looking great again by giving it a really good autumn treatment. Our Aftercut Autumn All in One is perfect. Plus, now is the best time to over-seed or sow a new lawn. Check out our Gro-Sure Lawn Seed offering.

2. The frost makes digging so much easier

Say goodbye to a bad back and aching arms and embrace the cold….If you dig your veg plot or allotment now, the frost will break it down even further for you over winter, amplifying your efforts by 50%!

3. Think ahead to spring

By planting a few bulbs in borders and pots, you’ll be forcing your mind to think ahead to spring. Plus, when it comes around you’ll have an instant mood-lifting display with no effort.

4. It’s harvest time!

Spurn the supermarkets and take advantage of nature’s harvest. Apple pie, butternut squash, blackberry crumble, tomato chutney, jacket potatoes. Are you hungry yet?

5. Share your surplus crops

Speaking of harvests, it’s also a great time of year to make new friends by giving away your surplus crops. One of the nicest ideas we’ve heard of is putting out a box of windfell apples for dog walkers and passers-by to help themselves.

6. A tidy shed is a happy shed

It’s a great chance to get organised and clear out the clutter. Clean your tools, organise your seed packets, put up some extra shelves. A tidy shed leads to a happy and calm mind!

7. Get planting

There’s still time to plant out onions, shallots, garlic, spring onions, spinach and broad beans, ready for next year.

8. And relax

You’ll soon be able to put your feet up and start planning next year’s garden offerings. Pick up a good book or leaf through garden centre magazines and seed catalogues, like Marshalls and Unwins.
