J. Arthur Bower’s Organic Farm Manure is an organic soil conditioner. It can be used to improve drainage and aeration in clay soils and add body to light sandy soils. It provides a natural source of organic matter to encourage healthy growth. It also improves soil fertility by adding vital humus and plant foods to the soil.

How to Use

Improving clay or light soils

Apply a 5 - 8 cm (2-3") layer on to the soil and work in. Use in spring or autumn.

Established plants

To reduce moisture loss and suppress weeds around roses, shrubs, beds and borders apply a 5 cm (2") layer across the soil

Planting roses, shrubs and trees

Mix one part manure with two parts top soil for the planting hole.

Vegetable growing

For brassicas, peas or beans, dig a trench and cover the bottom with manure. Fill the trench with a mix of one part farm manure to two parts top soil. For planting tomatoes, courgettes, etc., fill planting holes with a mix of one part manure to two parts top soil.

Other crops

Apply manure around established fruit trees in spring to improve yields. Do the same round fruit bushes and canes for bigger and better fruit on raspberries, blackcurrants and gooseberries. Pre-dressing flower beds with manure will give better blooms.

New lawns

For better aeration and drainage apply a 2.5 - 5 cm (1-2") layer on to the soil surface and work in before laying turf or sowing seeds.

Wear gloves and don’t use in an enclosed space to avoid breathing in dust. After use, wash hands before eating, drinking or smoking.
