Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface, and lightly cover them with a little more compost. Place in the warmth (10-15c) and keep moist.
Growing On
Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from direct sunlight. When plants are large enough to handle, transplant 5cm (2in) apart in trays of potting compost.
Planting Out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting out from early summer onwards. Allow 45cm (18in) between plants.
Growing Tips
Plant at the base of shrubs to allow its wiry flowering stems to meander through. Dead head spent flowers regularly to encourage more blooms.
