Before you begin, rework compost between hands to allow it to regain intended texture.
Seed Sowing
- Fill pot or tray to just below the rim.
- Tap down to give a flat even surface, water thoroughly and allow to drain.
- Sow seeds evenly, cover with a thin layer of compost.
- Water using a watering can with a fine rose.
- Cover with a polythene bag or propagator and keep out of direct sunlight until the seeds have germinated.
Pricking Out
- When the seedlings are large enough to handle, remove them from the seed tray and pot on in fresh Westland compost.
- Always pick up seedlings by their leaves, not stems, to avoid damage.
Cuttings
- Cut and remove non flowering 10cm shoot.
- Trim to leave top two pairs of leaves.
- Dip in rooting gel.
- Insert firmly into compost, water and place in poly bag, in warm spot away from direct sunlight.

General Advice
- Use in a well ventilated place and avoid breathing in dust.
- Always wear gloves when gardening and wash hands after use.
- Not suitable for ericaceous plants.
