Flopro Tips for Watering Beds & Borders
When watering your plants in your beds and borders is just as important as how you water them. Throughout the year except in hot summer months the best time of day to water is in the morning. This gives plants time to dry off before nightfall. If its not hot and sunny then leaving water on plants overnight can lead to mold. Watering your garden at the right time and using the right method will keep your plants healthy.
During warmer months, particularly in a heatwave its important that you water late in the day when the sun has gone down. This is because watering in the evening will give plenty of time for the water to penetrate the soil and consequently for the plant to take it up.
Tip 1 – Ensure you don’t just wet the surface and try not to soak leaves and flowers. We advise to thoroughly water the area to allow the water to sink in below surface level. This will help your plants establish strong roots.
Tip 2 – Apply mulch over your soil. This will help to give your plants the additional nutrients they need to thrive. Find out how to apply bark and mulch.
Tip 3 – Use a water gel to help retain water around deep roots. This will help reduce your watering as well as help to improve overall plant health.
